From the Principal

It’s been another busy and exciting week at St Patrick’s as we move closer to the end of term. A major focus for our dedicated teaching staff has been the preparation and finalisation of student reports. These written reports mark the first step in our formal reporting process, which will be followed by our term three Parent Teacher Interviews. We sincerely thank our teachers and Learning Support Staff for their hard work and professionalism in ensuring that each student is carefully assessed and appropriately placed. These reports provide a clear, thoughtful, and accurate reflection of each child’s progress, challenges and achievements throughout the semester.
This week, we reflect on Refugee Week and the Feast of the Sacred Heart—two moments united by the message of compassion and love. The Sacred Heart of Jesus symbolises his deep, unconditional love, especially for those who are vulnerable and in need. May we be inspired to embody Jesus’ love through kindness, prayer, and meaningful action—knowing his heart holds space for everyone.
Thank you to our families for your ongoing support as we head toward the end of a busy and productive term. There’s still much to look forward to before the holidays!
Casting your plans towards the holidays, do not forget our Family Movie Night - Wednesday July 9th at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased from the School Office.

Important Changes to Numeracy Reporting
Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 Curriculum Updates 2025
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 gives Victoria's students the best opportunity to thrive in a world of increasing change and rapid technological advancement. It reflects the expertise and feedback of Victorian teachers, making it easier for them to plan, assess and report on student learning.
The overarching structure of the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 has not changed from Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 1.0. The names and purpose of the learning areas, capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities remain the same. This recognises the continuing importance of a discipline-based approach to learning, where learning areas are regarded as both enduring and dynamic, supported by clearly articulated capabilities and cross-curriculum perspectives. When teachers report on your child’s progress, you will see some revisions to the reporting interface for some subjects.
Benefits for students
- Access to the essential knowledge and skills to be successful lifelong learners
- A better learning transition from the early years to primary school
- The necessary knowledge and skills to follow chosen senior secondary pathways
- A streamlined curriculum and higher-quality teaching and learning provisions
Reporting
What you see as a parent on your child’s report for most subjects, cross-curriculum priorities and capabilities will remain unchanged from previous years.
For Mathematics, a significant change in the interface that you will see as a parent will occur.
Previously the teacher reported against the 3 strands of the achievement standard for Mathematics.
- Number and Algebra
- Measurement and Geometry, and
- Statistics and Probability
Under the Mathematics curriculum 2.0, your child’s teacher will report against the achievement standard, providing a single, aggregated score. There will be no mark from previous reports for Mathematics as this will be the first time it is reported this way.
The VCAA made these changes to:
- Help teachers plan their teaching and learning programs in mathematics, giving them more flexibility to support students to link ideas within mathematics and with other curriculum areas.
- Give parents a genuine comparison of their child’s progress in Mathematics from semester to semester.
The pictures below show how our Mathematics reports were previously presented and what you can expect for Semester 1 in 2025.

Abbey is one of Australia’s elite basketball talents, having played for WNBL powerhouses like the Canberra Capitals, Bendigo Spirit, and Adelaide Lightning. A former Australian Opal, she’s known for her precision shooting and on-court leadership. Abbey has proudly represented Australia on the international stage, helping secure a bronze medal at the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup and gold with the Emerging Opals.
Off the court, Abbey’s impact is just as inspiring. After losing her mum to breast cancer, she rode 260km on horseback across regional Victoria to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research — a true reflection of her strength, passion, and heart.
At Wolfpack Hoops, we’re passionate about growing the game and ensuring that girls in regional areas have access to world-class coaching and opportunities. This camp is all about building confidence, community, and a love for basketball.
