From the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
Welcome to Term 3. We hope everyone had a pleasant, relaxing holiday and are ready for a term of learning and fun. We have three new families either returning or beginning this term and we welcome them to our school and hope they experience the community inclusion that we are renowned for at St Patrick's.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
School Reports & Parent/Teacher Interviews
Our school reports were released in PAM late last term and we hope you have had an opportunity to read about your child's progress. We will follow these up now with our Parent/Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th of July.
Taster Day
This Thursday 18th, we welcome our kindergarten children to St Patrick's for a Taster Day, they will enjoy activities in STEM, PE & Auslan/Health.
We are looking forward to their visit!
The week ahead
School Production a Hit
What a wonderful event the staging of the production "Watch This Space" was for our school community last term. Each of the three performances provided opportunities for children to express themselves through dance, singing and acting roles. It was driven by the wonderful work of our Art teacher, Vickie Mahony and our visiting writer and director, Kristy McKenzie.
New Staff Members
We are delighted to welcome two new members to our school staff for the LSO positions advertised last term. Eliza Fleming and Kath Townsend will begin this week at St Patrick's, and we wish them every success as a member of our staff.

CATHOLIC SCHOOL CULTURE
Message Sticks
To mark the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Ballarat, and in recognition of, and sensitivity to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sisters and brothers, four Message Sticks will simultaneously journey to each Catholic school across the four education zones of the Diocese. A Mother Stick will remain in the central Catholic Education Ballarat (CEB) Office to which the four travelling Message Sticks are indelibly linked.
The Message Sticks were crafted by Trevor Clark and Vicki Clark OAM, a DOBCEL Board Director and founder of The Aboriginal Catholic Ministry of Victoria (ACMV). They were blessed by Fr Marcello Colasante and presented to representatives of the four diocesan education zones during the Catholic Education Week Mass in Ballarat last term.
The Message Sticks have begun their journey across the Catholic schools of the Diocese, remaining with each school for approximately one week, before being handed on to the next school community, connecting over time, community to community.
At the conclusion of their journeys, the four Message Sticks will find a home in a prayer space within each one of the Catholic Education Ballarat offices.
In Aboriginal culture, Message Sticks were passed between different clans and language groups to establish information and transmit messages. They were often used to invite neighbouring groups to corroborees, initiation ceremonies, right of entry to country and invitation to religious rituals.
This Friday at assembly we celebrate the arrival of one of five Message Sticks to St Patrick's Primary School with an explanation and liturgy. Parents are most welcome to attend.

Movie Night Success
During the school holidays the P&F ran an enormously successful event with a night at the movies in Warnambool to watch Dispicable Me 4. 125 people enjoyed pizza, drinks, icecream and a chat before the movie and then had a great night watching the show. Well done to our hard working P&F committee for organising a great school event.

Enrolments are now open!
Theircare has now commenced at St Patrick's School and it's not too late to enrol.
We are excited to announce that we have now partnered with an independent Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) provider called TheirCare.
TheirCare provides a stimulating and safe environment for all children. During sessions, children develop life-skills, friendships, confidence, and creativity through play-based programs.
We look forward to welcoming TheirCare to the St Patrick’s Primary School Camperdown community in 2024.

Community Events
Donations needed
Michelle from Future Freight in conjunction with Rotary Terang are sending a crate across to Botswana and are asking for the following donations.
Rotary Botswana is in desperate need of baby clothes, up to size 1, any warm blankets and wheelchairs. Rotary Botswana supports the Riverside community hospital and the Dukwi refugee camp.
They always need primary school age books to send to schools in both Uganda and Botswana.
They also collect secondhand glasses and hearing aids.
Any donations for the above items would be very much appreciated.
